NEWS Update – March 2008

Hello friends in music …

They say time flies when you’re having fun … so by that definition, I guess I must be a real funster!

Seriously though, I thought it about time I update you all on my news and the good happenings at this end of the world.

Naturally, the most exciting news is that my current album, Once Again, recently won the Best Independent Album at the 2008 WA Country Music Awards held in Boyup Brook, Western Australia.  It was a real honour to receive the accolade and I sincerely thank those folks who’s faith in my music is one of the reasons I continue to pursue my passion. THANK YOU so much for your support, I appreciate it very much!

My most current news is that I have a new single released to Australian radio this week (NfS 121, track #5).  It’s the title track to my ‘award winning’ (I can say that now) album, so do keep your eyes and ears open for Once Again the single, and request it if you feel so inclined.  It’s a country classic that tells the ultimate cheatin’ story.

I leave for Sydney in less than a week to not only attend the APRA Song Summit and learn from the masters but to also support my new radio single with some performances and a brief radio tour.  To date, you can catch me at the following:

Festival Update …

Tamworth Festival 2008 was a great experience this year.  Gruelling, busy, but also great.  I am thrilled to say that I have been invited back again in 2009 as a Host on the Country Music Train where this year, too much fun was barely enough every evening in the lounge car – each night was one to be remembered.  It was wonderful to meet so many country music enthusiasts and also to get to know my co-hosts.

Thank you to Arthur and Ena for the experience and for inviting me back as a host on the train.  Thanks too, go to all the other promoters, agents and presenters (Rural Press Events, Sam Smyth, Daryl Kirkup, Cheryl Byrnes, Axiom Entertainment, RUM Entertainment, LBS Records, Andrew Clermont, TSA & Jim Guider) who gave me the opportunity to perform in Tamworth.  You can see where I played by checking my past gigs.

On my return, my washing was hardly dry when it was time to pack again and head off to the Barham Stampede … another super weekend was had by all.  So good to have an opportunity to meet and play for folks on the other side of Australia.  Shady Deal, the house band worked so very hard the whole weekend and was of course, in fine form.  Hats off to the guys!

I was honoured too, when enthusiasts from the train and even Mildura travelled all the way to Barham to say hello!  The highlight at the Stampede was the finale where each artist dressed up as a character – I was asked to go as Little White Dove with Cameron Mason as my brave, Running Bear … They say its good to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes – well we sure did have a chuckle!

It won’t be long before I head off again on tour to the USA … but more about that later.

Until then … I hope you all enjoyed a peaceful Easter and that you keep making, playing, listening to, and requesting good country music!

Yours in music

Connie Kis xx
